. a deadly weekend on california roadways claimed 27 lives, including six from the bay area. one of those deadly crashes happened saturday night on highway 50 near placerville when the driver of a prius swerved into the path of a minivan. three members of a bay area family in the prius died. a 4-year-old girl from placerville in the minivan was killed. five others were hurt in that crash with minor to serious injuries. investigators are looking into the cause of that crash. >> there is no information leading to any impairment of that driver. >> witnesses say a deer might have run out into -- in front of the cars. they're often seen in that area and drivers are forced to swerve around them. >>> new video this morning of an early morning crash on 880 that sent at least one person to the hospital. several ambulances and fire trucks responded to the scene of the crash, which it appears involved a few cars. this happened in san jose. traffic was tied up southbound behind the crash at brokaw avenue all the way to montague expressway in san jose. so far the chp is not commenting on what caused t

at the two storms. this first one will continue to go across the californias, we move through the afternoon. we are going to see a bit of a break, maybe a bit of sun and then for the second half this system will start to pull in. let me show you what i'm talking about. scattered shower this morning. expect the slick roads, by noontime we have mainly cloud conditions but we are mainly dry. we have the break, we have rain and snow at the sierra but the elevation very high with the snow above 7,000 feet. by sunset, 5:00 we have the rain pulling in once again. this is the second system moving in to the north bay. if you have evening plans it's going to be wet. over the central bay by 7:00 and in to the south bay by 10. in the overnight it starts to push out. tomorrow morning, sunday 8:00. mainly dry and sunday will be cooler than today but we will be again mainly dry for sunday. the winds right now 14 miles an hour in oakland. 16 in san jose. temperatures, mild. relatively speaking. we are have upper 50s, low 60s outside outside the door right now. 60 degrees for mountain view. 57 santa rose

bay. this map here helps break it down. the california breast cancer mapping project found portions of san mateo, santa clara and alameda counties had breast cancer rates that were 10% to 20% higher than the state average from 2000 to 2008. these higher-than-average rates were also found in slices of sonoma, napa and solano counties. however, the study does not list a cause for these rates, but it's long been known breast cancer risk factors include everything from drinking alcohol daily to taking certain hormone replacements. and this behavior tends to be common among higher income women, which, of course, the bay area does have. still, the study does not say this correlation is in fact the cause of the higher breast cancer rates that we're seeing in the study. so if you're a woman living in the bay area, what do you make of the study? first of all, don't forget breast cancer can be genetic and doctors also worry about certain environmental factors. more reasons for us women to practice good breast care and that includes staying current on our mammograms. jon. >> thank you very muc

this month by the california nurses association. >> the windchill wipers and a live shot of s.f. 0 foregoing. >> we are picking up some light rain this morning on storm tracker 4. initially it was up north of the golden gate bridge but we are seeing some stray showers in parts of san francisco. parts of the bay bridge and impacting some of the east bay as well. around the bay area you will need windchill wipers the one-on- one approach in san rafael into ocean beach over to you richmond district. we're detecting a dry break for the bay bridge right now. some of the showers and pushed their way east and we're seeing light rain on highway 13 over portions of the caldecott tunnel. satellite and radar shows this cold front pushing its way closer to the bay area. this is a slow-moving system and the bulk of the wet weather will fall into the overnight hours. i will walk to the timing of the storm coming up in my next report. >> we are still monitoring major counter in delays this morning there was a fatality about an hour ago in palo alto. northbound train no. 103 struck and killed a pedestrian.
